Corporate Cookie Event-2012

Corporate Cookie Connection is a one-day event during which corporations and businesses welcome our New York City Girl Scouts into their buildings to sell Girl Scout Cookies in their lobbies and cafeterias. As always, all of the proceeds will remain in New York City to fund local Girl Scouting, and $0.65 per box goes directly to the seller’s troop.

This year, we sold 1,719 boxes of cookies to employees of a large company in Manhattan.  Employees donated 79 boxes to members of our military for Operation Cookie and $75 to our troop!

This Week's Theme: What Do Girl Scouts Do?

At this week's meeting, the girls of Troop #3027 learned what "Girl Scouting" is all about!  "We do a lot of things", announced Troop Coordinator, Miss Jodi, "and we always have a lot of fun".  The girls learned the Girl Scout Law and how it relates to their life.  Each girl got a chance to introduce themselves, tell what grade they are in, and describe what they like to do.  "I like to play in the park", said Shanier, a new Daisy,"and I want to take trips".

During Group Work Time, each girl met with other girls in their level.  The Daisies worked with Miss Donna and drew pictures about what they want to do, this year, with the Girl Scouts.  Brownies worked with Miss Stacey and wrote a paragraph about what trips they would like to take.  Miss Jodi worked with the Juniors/Cadettes as they discussed how fundraising, trips, volunteering, arts & crafts, and lessons can make the world a better place.  "Trips give us the experience to learn new things", said Taysia, a new Junior Girl Scout, "this way we will know more for the future and make the world a better place".

Great work, girls!  Next week we'll be partnering with Dove and the Movement for Self-Esteem.
