A Successful Spring Fling!

The leaders of Troop #3027 would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many friends and family members that came out to support our first fundraising event!  To our dedicated parents and volunteers, thank you for spending an afternoon with us and donating your time and talents.  To the vendors, thank you for providing your skills, talents and services.  We really appreciate you all!

Although our financial goal was not met, you showed us more love and support than we could ever imagine!  Donations of all kinds put the smiles on the faces of the nearly fifty children that participated in our Spring Fling!  Special thanks to The Kennedy Center directer, Rodney Beckford, for being our biggest fan. Thank you, thank you and thank you!

Spring Fling Preparations!

Members of Troop #3027 get ready for the Spring Fling.

The members and leaders of Troop #3027 have been preparing for our Spring Fling taking place in less than one week!  We have invited members of the Harlem community, friends, classmates and family members to attend our fundraising event.  Boys and girls that attend will enjoy a bouncy house, face painting, a caricature artist, arts and crafts, Girl Scout Cookies, a live DJ, contests, raffles and much more!

Are you ready?

Troop meetings will begin on October 20th with registration on Saturday, October 6th at the Kennedy Center!  Are you ready to discover your special skills and talents?  Are you ready to learn about teamwork, problem solve and develop healthy relationships? Are you ready to take action to make the world a better place?  If so, that's great!  If not, then get ready for a great year with Girl Scout Troop #3027!

Black History At The Kennedy Center: Framed Artwork

After each meeting, we will feature one element of the Kennedy Center that you may not have noticed.  Although Girl Scout meetings are held in the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Community Center located on 134th between Lenox Avenue and Fifth Ave.   Although you may have been in the building many times, have you seen this?

This framed print of Toussaint L'Ouverture is located at the top of the lobby's stairs, on your right hand side.  Although he was born a slave, Toussaint L'Ouverture rose to become the leader of Haiti. He accomplished this by taking advantage of wars between the powerful countries that occupied his homeland.  For more information about this Black leader, make sure to take a look at a painting of him and some great information at the Kennedy Center, where Black History lives all year long.
