Our photo of the week was taken by Miss Donna!  Here, Miss Stacey (Trip Coordinator) talks to the girls about their uniform.  "You must wear your vest at each meeting", she reminds the girls.  "Make sure it has our troop number, the "Girl Scouts of America" badge and the trefoil symbol attached to it. During the year, you will earn new badges".

This Week's Theme: Donate Your Time, Talents & Treasures

Inspired by President Barack Obama, our troop began with a spirit of making change in our community.  We've continued that spirit by renewing our philanthropic efforts.  As philanthropists, we donate our time, talents and treasures for the common good.

Today's lesson reminded us that just as each star in the sky makes up the universe, each Girl Scout is a shining star and can make a positve difference through contributing to the common good.  With Miss Donna, the Daisies worked together to draw a picture that represented how each girl can come together to do something beautiful.  With Miss Regina and Miss Stacey, the Brownies read the lyrics to Katy Perry's song Firework and decorated stars to represent the many ways they help their community.  With Miss Jodi, the Juniors/Cadettes discussed issues that they care about and ways that they can improve their world.

Meet Our Troop Leaders: Miss Stacey

Did you know that Miss Stacey recently visited China? She is part of the clothing design team at Polo/Ralph Lauren and was sent their to visit the factories. "I think I want to go back to visit", she said, "I want to learn more about the country and its people".

Miss Stacey was born in Harlem and is one of the founders of our troop! With the help of her sister, Miss Jodi, she started Troop #3027 after President Obama asked American citizens to volunteer in their community. Her goal is to introduce the girls, including her daughter Cassidy, to new things that will impact their lives. Miss Stacey plans all of our trips and enjoys traveling with the troop. "I love working with the girls. They are funny, honest and sweet".
