Phenomenal Women: Courageous & Strong

Our annual Phenomenal Women: Courageous and Strong Event was held on January 25th!  Each year we invite guest speakers to discuss how they've shown courage and strength at work and in their everyday life.  Being courageous and strong are characteristics of every Girl Scout and phenomenal women like Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce and Mom!

This year, Troop #3027 was visited by Essence Account Director, Danielle M. Brown!   The Hampton University graduate spoke to the girls about the importance of getting a good education, never giving up and showing confidence in who you are. "When you first meet someone, you should say your name clearly and look that person in the eyes."  Miss Danielle discussed being persistent and trying new ways of getting to your solution.  "There is more than one way to get home", she said.  "If you can't reach your goal by going one way, try a different way!"

Thanks again to Danielle M. Brown for speaking to the girls of Troop #3027, giving them words to live by and leaving them with some goodies from Essence to take home.  We appreciate you, Miss Danielle!  You are phenomenal!

Photo of the Week: November 16th Meeting

Daisy Girl Scout, Charis, models her creations.

Photo of the week was captured by Miss Donna as Charis (new Daisy Girl Scout) models a bag and dress that she designed.  With support from guest speaker and professional clothing designer Kellia Rogers, Charis was able to create a dress out of a men's, large t-shirt!  Rip the runway, Charis!

A Visit From Fashion Designers

At our last meeting, we designed fashionable shirts with special guest designers Nicole Parrish and Kellia Rogers!  Both women have designed for clothing companies like Jordache, Apple Bottoms and Pastries.  They encouraged our girls to be courageous and strong.  They reminded the girls of the importance of going to college.  After discussing fashion, our special guests showed our young designers some tricks to make a simple t-shirt look fabulous!  From bows and beads to sparkle and style, our girls were able to continue show their creativity by designing their own t-shirts.
